Surly Occult Philosophy Double Dry-Hopped Hazy Double India Pale Ale

Surly Occult Philosophy Double Dry-Hopped Hazy Double India Pale Ale.

9.2 % ABV. Double. Hop. Arcana. Surly Brewing, Mpls/B.C., MN.

Hold on, Al, you're saying, aren't you supposed to be eschewing the hazies and the DDHs these days, in order to stave off inevitable disappointment? Well, yeah, but I make an exception for Surly, and I have to admit that it's mainly out of sentiment and nostalgia for the years 2006-2016. So, let's drink some...

Lightly hazed, bright golden/amber color, large and lasting creamy white head, looking good.

In the nose: Bursting with citrus and overripe tropical fruits. Pine on the side. Candied fruit for dessert.

In the mouth: Just a bit juicy at the start, then swallowed up by rich and delicious hop flavors, dank and fruity. Little bit of bitterness, but it remains low-key. Bright and shiny hop goodness keeps the tempo upbeat, the mood high, the feeling appealing. Then the booze crashes the party and makes with the merry. A lot of complexity in this one, and I find myself liking it.

Read the tea leaves. Roll the bones. Reveal the final card. Delve into mysteries unknown with this hop-heavy and hazy double dry-hopped double IPA. Featuring Lotus, Mosaic, and Strata hops, this soft and juicy beer help you find fortune and favor deep within the swirling mists.
