Eagle Park Immortal Soul Imperial West Coast Style India Pale Ale

Eagle Park Immortal Soul Imperial West Coast Style India Pale Ale. Brewed with Citra and Mosaic Cryo Hops.

8.2 % ABV, Brewed and canned by Eagle Park Brewing, Muskego, WI.

So, an Imperial West Coast IPA from Eagle Park and it's only $11.99 for the 4-pack? Guess I've got to try it. Let's see if a haze maker can do this style justice.

To the eye: Not quite clear, but not too hazy, either. Deep golden/amber hue. Slim white head.

In the nose: Citrus explosion, big and fruity. Lively lemon, orange and a twist of tangerine, slice of grapefruit on the side.

In the mouth: Starts out fresh and juicy, plump and citrusy. Doesn't hardly resemble a West Coast IPA in the the least. Hoppiness grows on the palate as the alcohol starts to show. Medium bodied, long, hoppy finish. I like this as a double IPA, and I wouldn't be upset if they just called it an American IPA and left it at that. It lacks the dryness and the crisp bitter bite of a true West Coast IPA. Once again, I'm let down by someone advertising a West Coast and not delivering.

Immortal Soul is an ever evolving double IPA, brewed to showcase the unique characteristics of various new and exciting hops. Every batch has the same malt bill, body, color, and bitterness but features a unique hop profile. Same Soul. Different Personality.
