Oliphant Boatman Forever Dry Stout

Oliphant Boatman Forever Dry Stout. 4.9% Alc./Vol.      Oliphant Brewing, Somerset, WI.

Solid blackness, slim whitish head.

In the nose: roast, richness, tobacco, anise, more. Big cocoa and caramel, too. Charcoal and toffee. Very nice.

In the mouth: Nice roast, big malt, not a trace of bitter or sweet, ending ultimately dry. Right on, right on. Just about a perfect dry stout. Medium bodied, mostly malty, and utterly satisfying.

Hey, everyone. Stouts don't need to be flavored or barrel-aged to be good. You don't need to break the rules all the time. Put out a good, drinkable dry stout, and it will be appreciated. As I do now with this. Damn, Boatman, you have come to my rescue. Little bit of sweet, touch of caramel, then comes the dry.
This one is just about perfect. Yes! Thank you, Boatman! Boatman Forever!
