Hey, look! It's beer I've had before at the taproom, but never before in a can! This would also be the first Waconia beer I've purchased outside the taproom. (Outside of the keg of the Wactown Wheat I bought for Acadia.) Well, what are we waiting for, let's drink it!
Waconia Brewing Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter. American-style flavored porter with a twist. Alc. 6.4% by vol. 24 IBU. 1 pint. Malt beverage brewed with natural and artificial flavors, artificial colors & FD&C yellow #5. Brewed by Waconia Brewing, Waconia, MN.
Solid darkness, with a short, brown head. Looking alright.
In the nose: peanut butter notes fly out of the glass and into the senses. Let's lean in further....PB's on top, and chocolate is right behind it. It's a beautiful blend.
In the mouth: Rich and full bodied. Plump with the peanut butter and the chocolate. Full malt flavor, minimal hops, long, sweet-ish finish. This one delivers the goods.
I'm certainly not crowning anyone the Peanut Butter King. I think it's kind of silly that we're paying such attention to this gimmick style and facing some of these breweries off in some kind of "peanut butter sweepstakes"....let's just say it's one of the better ones out there, and you can buy with confidence. Tell 'em the Nib sent ya!
A WBC taproom favorite, the chocolate peanut butter porter is an American style flavored porter with a fun-twist. Natural flavors of semi-sweet chocolate & peanut butter blends nicely with layered malt creaminess creating something special. People love chocolate & peanut butter...it's science! Cheers!
