Drastic Measures Stupid Good Hazy IPA

Drastic Measures Stupid Good Hazy IPA.

6.6 % ABV. 60 IBU. Drastic Measures Brewing, Wadena, MN.

Well, folks, here it is, only the third beer by this brewery in the Nib, and this will make the third hazy IPA by them. I really should have picked up another beer by them of another style by now, not sure why I never did. And this, one of their best known and most popular beers, appears at this time not because I have dropped my ban on the hazies, but because their new sales rep, my ol' pal Brenson, has shared samples and this can landed in my hands. Let's drink this with an open mind and try forget my feelings on the hazy trend which both bores and aggravates me at once.

Considerably dense and clouded, bright golden hue, thin, but lasting ivory head.

In the nose: citrus notes and tropical, too. Subtle, but solid.

In the mouth: Soft and delicate. Citrusy. Lacking any bitterness at all. Very mellow and toned down. Smooth and fuzzy. Just a little bit juicy. Mild on the palate. A bit too much on the sweet side, could  use even the slightest dose of bitter. Easily consumed. Good hazy, for those who like that sort of thing, and one certainly can drink it. (Personally, it's all ho-hum to me.)

I vow that I will try more beers from this brewery and they will not be hazies.

So Good, It's ...See what we did there? When we first brewed this juicy Northeast style IPA, the immediate reaction was unanimous and there was only one name that seemed inappropriate. Since then, we've brewed a bunch more beers in this style, but this is the original...and the one that keeps people coming back for more. So, sit back, relax, and get Stupid!

This must be my problem. I don't relax and get stupid enough.

Drastic Measures Morning Dream New England IPA

Drastic Measures Morning Dream New England IPA.
7.1 % ABV. 66 IBU. Drastic Measures Brewing.

Absolutely hazed, bright golden, nearly peach-toned, with a lasting layer of ivory head above.

In the nose: Bitter orange peel and grapefruit. Pineapple and lime. A delight.

In the mouth: We're getting the haze, as well as the bitter. Nice and hoppy. Sweetness occasionally parlays with the bitter hop experience. A little dusty in the throat, a little chalky, but that is this style. I remain not the world's biggest fan of it, and will continue to cry out for the old school style of IPA, but this is a tasty one, for sure.

Drastic Measures Ill Intent Double IPA

Hey, it's my first crowler from Drastic Measures, after having a 4-pack of cans. And it's another hazy double IPA. Not surprising, I do gravitate towards the hoppy stuff. But. My next beer from them should be something different. I hope.

Drastic Measures Ill Intent Double IPA.
8 % ABV. Drastic Measures Brewing, Wadena, MN.

All kinds of hazy (naturally), dull orange hue, thick and lush ivory head, leaving lace, looking luscious.

In the nose: Sweet, tropical, fruity. All hoppy, some malty.

In the mouth: Well, this has everything the hazy IPA lover wants, all the yeast, all the hops, all the fruity/juiciness, and just a little more booze. It's bright and buoyant. Galaxy and mosaic. Brimming with brightness. All the citric goodness, all on blast. Bright, juicy, orangey, lemony, yum, a, dum, dum. And it's got the haze...if you're into that thing....

Galaxy/mosaic

Let's face it, we live in some...interesting times. But when the world seems to be at it's worst, beer seems to taste the best - at least that's our take on it. And, there's never been a better time to be a beer geek than right now. Here at Drastic Measures we've been busy brewing the kind of beer we love, and we're pretty darn confident that you'll love it too! So when the world knocks you down, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and grab a pint glass...or, drink it straight from the can. Hey, it's your beer!

Drastic Measures Enforcer DIPA

So, Brett from Disgruntled got so disgruntled that he took off and started a new brewery. (I know, there's obviously more to it than that.) And that is Drastic Measures of Wadena, MN. At last, their beers are hitting the local stores and I picked up a 4-pack of a double IPA. I don't like paying $18 for 4 cans, but on the other hand, I just had to try it. And once again, I drank 3 without a comment or any trouble, and now I pour out #4 and will give it appropriate contemplation.

Disgruntled Brewing Enforcer DIPA.
 7.9 % ABV. 82 IBU.
Drastic Measure Brewing, Wadena, MN.

Medium haze. Cause that's half the craze. Murky-ish orange-like hue. Slim white head.

In the nose: Sweet, fruity, hoppy. Tropical tones loom over citrus notes.

In the mouth: Bitter and tart starts it off, quickly subsumed by fruity, sweet, tropical and a touch of citrus. Tasty stuff. Low bitterness, high smooth. Lean body, lush malt. Particularly pleasing.

I like this one, and look forward to trying more of their stuff.

El Dorado and enigma hops. Drastic yeast blend #2.

Lupulin / Drastic Measures Operation CoHoperation India Pale Ale

Lupulin / Drastic Measures Operation CoHoperation India Pale Ale. 7% ABV. 50 IBU. Lupulin Brewing, Big Lake, MN, in collaboration with Drastic Measures Brewing, Wadena, MN. (That's the new venture from the former Disgruntled brewer Brett Doebbelling.)

All cloudy-like, bright golden, slim white head.

In the nose: citrus aplenty up in here. Orange and lemon, with a pinch of pine.

In the mouth: Popping with hops. Medium bodied, long, bitter finish. Deliriously delicious. Lots of hoppy goodness going on. Flat out yum.

Collaboration with Drastic Measures in Wadena, MN. A most mind blowing mash up of malt, hops, and hop hash. Two worlds colliding with a force so great that the resulting element is greater than the sum of its parts. From that collision poured this golden liquid hop juice. Enjoy!
