Coronado El Rollo India Pale Ale. West-Coast style IPA. Collaboration with Pizza Port Brewing. 

7.2 % ABV, Coronado Brewing, Coronado, CA. 

Clear, bright golden hue, slim white head. 

In the nose: fragrant, zestful, Citra-tasting. Utterly lovely. Lemon alights upon grapefruit to intermingle. 

In the mouth: pow! Hop bitterness hits from the first sip. Citrus notes meet the taste of the tropical. Fresh and vibrant, delivering shock after shock of hoppy delights with each new gulp. Lean bodied and delicious. Leaning dry, with a touch of sweetness. 

I like my West Coast IPAs bone-dry and brittle, but I can also enjoy variations such as this. West Coast is surely the best coast.

And now for a beer that I know I'm going to enjoy. Just look at it. It has me all over it. 

Clear, bright golden hue, slim white head. 

In the nose: Highly hopped. Citrus and pine. Fresh and lively. 

In the mouth: Crisp and bright. Good blast of hop bitterness starts it off. Snappy. Not soft or hazy. Not pillowy at all. Nothing but hops on the palate. Just the way I like it. Bursting with citrusy goodness, orange, lemon, grapefruit. And not a note of tropical on the side. Sweetness kept wholly at bay. IPA as it was meant to be, baby. 

Twenty-Fifth Anniversary IPA

25 years is a long time. It’s a ¼ of a century. It’s two and a half decades. Needless to say, we’ve learned a few things over the last 25 years brewing in San Diego. We’ve learned how to brew award-winning IPAs and how to cook the perfect fish taco. We’ve learned what it means to “stay coastal” and that supporting our fellow SD Brewers is really what it’s all about. While this beer celebrates a milestone in the CBC story, we know this is still just the beginning. So, let’s raise two pints this time. One for the last 25 years and one for the next.

Coronado Weekend Vibes IPA India Pale Ale

Coronado Weekend Vibes IPA India Pale Ale 

6.8% ABV, 60 IBU, Coronado Brewing, San Diego, CA.

Clear, bright golden/amber color, slim white head. 

In the nose: Big citrus and pine. powerful hop, this is classic West Coast style. 

In the mouth: Big bitterness, juicy malt, a little earthy, a touch bready. Citrus and pine are still in style, and the command this thing. Everything starts out sweet, turns to bitter, and ends on a dry note. Just like life, baby. Absolutely delicious. It's all I ever want out of an American IPA. Good job, Coronado. 

Bursting with tropical dankness, this beer is everything you want from a San Diego-style IPA. It’s bright, bursting with hop fruitiness, and refreshingly dry. Crack one open and get ready to feel those weekend vibes. 

Coronado Never Better DIPA

 Coronado Never Better DIPA.

8.1 % ABV. 65 IBU, Coronado Brewing, Coronado, CA.

Lightly hazed, bright golden color, large and lasting ivory head.

In the nose: sweet, fruity, minor bitterness, growing more sweet and fruity. Quite likable.

In the mouth: juicy. Fruity. Moderate bitterness. Big bursts of citrus and tropical fruit notes. Crisp and clean. Exceptionally likable.

Brewed with a vibrant blend of Vic Secret, Mosaic and Citra, this Double IPA is bursting with hop flavors of tropical mango, passion fruit, and resinous pine.  One sip and you’ll go from good to Never Better.

Coronado North Island IPA

Coronado North Island IPA New England-style India Pale Ale. Hazy. Tropical. Juicy. 7.5% ABV. 40 IBU. Coronado Brewing, Coronado, CA.

It's hazy, bright golden hued. Slim, milky white head.

In the nose: Tropical fruit notes aplenty. Pineapple, guava, etc. Soft'n'fuzzy. Bitterness on low.

In the mouth: Nice and bitter up front, on the way back it's mild and smooth. Soft mouthfeel, while bitter hops flavors lay low. More soft and fuzzy on the palate. Bright and citrus-y. A tasty one.

Well, it's a New England IPA. If you like that. Go knock yourself out.

This New England-style IPA is bursting with ripe, tropical juiciness. British ale yeast accentuates the hop fruitiness and gives this unfiltered beer a dense, foggy haze like the coastal marine layer swallowing the north side of our island.

Coronado Guava Islander Tropical IPA

Coronado Guava Islander Tropical IPA. 7% ABV, 65 IBU. Coronado Brewing Company, Coronado, CA.

Clear, bright golden hue, with a large and lasting layer of ivory foam atop.

In the nose:  Assertive hoppiness, tropical tones, guava notes, highly pleasing.'

In the mouth: Hop bitterness pounces on the palate at first sip. Juicy tropical fruit flavors flood the senses and wash away some of that bitter punch, but it comes back with each return of the glass to the lips. For a "fruity" IPA, the fruit doesn't get in the way, which is a good thing for this IPA lover. Medium bodied, easy drinking, but a long, bitter finish, just the way I like it.




Further blasts of tropical fruit juice interject through the drinking, and the hoppiness continues to keep up. Good tropical IPA and you can drink it.


Can
Tropical fruit meets tropical vibes in this “guavacated” version of our Islander IPA. Brewed with the classic West Coast combo of Centennial, Chinook and Columbus hops, this beer gets the tropical treatment with a hefty dose of fresh guava puree. The result is a surprisingly smooth, unfiltered IPA bursting with tropical goodness that’s sure to put you in that island state of mind. 

Coronado Orange Ave. Wit

Coronado Orange Avenue Wit. 5.2% ABV. 15 IBU. Coronado Brewing, Coronado, California.

Clear, light golden color, slim white head.

In the nose: fruit forward, orange and other citrus, slight spice, sweet wheat.

In the mouth: Generous flavors up front, loaded with coriander, orange peel, etc. Abundant fruit, , mellow malt, and a bit hoppier than your average wit. Lean bodied, easy-drinking, definite sessioner.

Good balance in this one, and definitely an American/ Californian take on the style. Misses a little something more special to the Belgian style. But a good beer nonetheless.

Our spiced California style Wit is both refreshing and complex. Brewed with wheat, coriander, California orange peel and local orange blossom honey. From the first sip to the last you’ll find subtle flavors of bread, spice, citrus and a thirst quenching orange honey finish.

Coronado Islander IPA

Coronado Brewing, Coronado, CA Islander IPA. "Stay Coastal." (Well, why am I drinking this in Minnesota?) Centennial, Columbus, and Chinook hops. All the C's. Almost all. But all C's, anyway. 7.5 % ABV, 83 IBU.

Clouded, pale gold, solid, lasting layer of white head on top. looking good.

In the nose: There's the pine, there's the citrus, right where it ought to be. Absolutely lovely for a hophead like me. Perfect.

In the mouth: Hop bitterness spanks the palate from the start, fierce pine and citrus fruit flavors, punchy and pungent. Juicy, even. Medium bodied, long, hoppy finish. Quite delicious.
