Arbeiter Mulled Wee Heavy.
9.9% ABV. Arbeiter Brewing, Minneapolis, MN.
Opaque, dark brown color, small, brownish head.
In the nose: Sweet, malty, spicy. Nutmeg and cloves. A little nuttiness. Lovely stuff.
In the mouth: Smooth and creamy. Full of rich, malty flavors. Full bodied, but far from thick. Waves on waves of deliciousness greet the palate. More of the nutmeg, and maybe allspice? Just the right blend of spices hitting on the best bed of sweet, malty wee heavy. And what's this about 9.9% ABV?
I wish I had brought this to the Christmas gathering, but I can never be sure who's going to join in. See, there's the sober side of the family, and then the Budweiser side, who will tolerate an occasional Grain Belt, and my craft beer side seems to fluctuate in attendance year to year.
Well, the middle of January is a good time for a toasty winter warmer like this. Hey, it'll be above zero degrees for the next two days, that's something to celebrate!
