Destihl Redbird Ale Expertly Crafted American Red Ale.
5.3 % ABV, 32 IBU. Destihl Brewing, Normal, IL.
Clear, bright crimson coloring, large and lasting creamy off-white head.
In the nose: Slightly sweet, rich, and malty. Flavors of cherry and apple pop out.
In the mouth: More cherries, berries, apple. Lightly hoppy, more malt. Medium bodied, long malty finish. Hops are here, and well balanced. This is a tasty little number, and quite a nice rendition of the red ale style, which basically does not exist anymore. Very few people care about them anymore, but that's no reason they shouldn't be brewed and made available. Most of the people who think they want hazy IPAs probably really want red ales.
American-style red ale brewed in honor of our Illinois state bird. Medium caramel sweetness balances pleasant hop bitterness, aroma and flavor.
