Elysian Punkuccino Coffee Pumpkin Ale. Coffee Pumpkin Ale with Cinnamon and Nutmeg.
6 % ABV, Elysian Brewing, Seattle, WA.
I know what you're thinking. It's the middle of January, Al, and you're drinking a pumpkin ale? It's funny how things work, isn't it? And this is the first of three. Well, look at it this way. I wasn't going to pay for this, and I didn't. "Experience BY: APR 22."
Dark brown appearance, fully opaque, slim brownish head.
In the nose: rich coffee-is nose, with a spicy kick. Nice blend of flavors, but nothing from the gourd. Smells fantastic.
In the mouth: Rich, earthy, nutty, spicy, coffee. And, again, nothing from pumpkin. Is it there at all, just swallowed up by the spice? It's slightly sweet and majorly malty.
Punkuccino :: Coffee Pumpkin Ale.
A pumpkin ale with the attitude of a world-weary barista, Punkuccino packs a short shot of Stumptown coffee toddy in your pint with just a shake of cinnamon and nutmeg. Pale, brown, biscuit, C-77 crystal, chocolate and kiln-coffee malts provide the body, German Northern Brewer lends a touch of bitterness, and lactose sweetens just a touch. Three pumpkin additions, in the mash, kettle and fermenter. 5% ABV.
