Venn Opulessence Cinnamon Maple Latte. Imperial Stout with Cinnamon, Coffee, & Maple.
12 % ABV. Venn Brewing, Minneapolis, MN.
Editors’s Note: These notes are eight months old. Never mind why I’m so late to publish them. This was a beer you could have tried last fall, and maybe will again. I unearth it now to further demonstrate the imagination and skill happening at Venn.
Utter and thorough blackness, complete and total opacity, large and lasting ring of rich, brown foam.
In the nose: Maple is king, here. And that's from afar. I haven't gone in for a proper snootful, yet. Lets' go: coffee is large, too, but maple is larger. Cinnamon hasn't shown up yet. So far, so yum.
In the mouth: Here's where cinnamon takes over, leading the charge. Coffee and maple are behind. Spice in control here. Other stout flavors remain hidden, so far. Rich, full, complex, and terrifically tasty. Big and beefy. high alcohol is starting to roar. Incredible flavors keep unfolding.
This is just another reason why I keeping considering Venn Brewing among my favorites and one of the best breweries in Minneapolis.
