A-Side French Saison

A-Side French Saison.

7.5 % ABV. A-Side Public House, St. Paul, MN.

A new brewpub opened up in St. Paul, and it is brewing a saison. That means that Ed will want me to try it with him, and try it I did. This is the second crowler I brought back from our visit.

Lighhtly clouded, straw yellow color, slim white head.

In the nose: Bubblegum funk and Belgian yeast esters galore. Citrus and spice and everything nice.

In the mouth: Spicy, fruity, dry. Medium bodied, yeast-centric, Light hops. More bubblegum with a splash of banana, trickle of citrus. Touch of apricot and peach. Falls firmly in the boundaries of the saison flavor profile. Refreshing and tasty. Just short of delicious. Not too shabby.

A pale, highly aromatic ale with citrusy, peppery, and fruity aromas and flavors. Dry-hopped with Ariana and Amarillo hops, this beer leaves an unexpectedly silky and rich mouthfeel, yet is also extremely dry and effervescent.
