Junkyard Maximum Potential Bock Style Malty Lager.
6.4% ABV. Junkyard Brewing, Moorhead, MN.
When a brewery such as this makes a traditional beer, not a fruited Sour, pastry stout, or DDH NE IPA, then I want to try it. That’s why a bock from Junkyard found it’s way into my fridge.
Clear, dark brown color, small, cream toned head.
In the nose: malty and sweet, brown sugar, caramel, a touch of molasses. Delightful and enticing.
In the mouth: sweet stuff rides the palate first, then runs off, nice and clean. I was expecting extra residual sugars, but it’s all very well balanced, good drinking. Medium bodied, clean, malty, smooth and satisfying.
I like a good bock bier, and this is one.
Maximum Potential is our bock style malty lager. Poured into a glass this is malty lager boasts hues of amber. It hits your palate with a rich malty complexity with hints of nutty breads, a touch of honey graham cracker and a well balanced hop presence.
