Hammerheart Dublin Raid Peat-smoked Irish-Style Red Ale

Hammerheart Dublin Raid Peat-smoked Irish-Style Red Ale .

7% ABV. Hammerheart Brewing, Lino Lakes, MN.

Here we have a beer that recently showed up at the store in can form, and I could have sworn that it had appeared here in the Nib before. Nope, only the Barrel aged version. And I’m down to can #4, so let’s take some notes.

Dark brown coloring with crimson edges, nearly opaque, under a slim, brief ring of foam.

In the nose: peated malt and smoke hit first and hardest. Malty flavors lurk below.

In the mouth: sweetness starts it off, minor hop presence keeps the balance. Smooth stuff, and tasty, too. Smoke lingers long after the peat. Medium bodied with a long, malt- forward finish. I like a good peaty, Smokey Irish Ale and this is one.

Dublin Raid is an Irish-style Red Ale brewed using imported peat-smoked barley and fermented with Irish Ale yeast.
