Arbeiter Rye Whiskey Barrel Roggen Stickum.
8.5 % ABV. Arbeiter Brewing, Minneapolis, MN.
Here's a beer that I picked up two weeks ago for the 1st anniversary celebration. Why not drink it now? I can't think of a reason why not, so here we go.
Dark brown/burgundy hue, some clarity, but mostly opaque, large cream-toned head, drifts down swiftly, leaving lace. Looking very good.
In the nose: Nicely spicy and mostly malty. Arresting aromatics, flush with the flavors of the barrel. Whiskey, vanilla, spice, oak, and more.
In the mouth: Bold, brash, and a little hot. Comes on the palate with full force. Rye whiskey barrel flavors are not shy here. The flavors of the rye sticke alt are mostly covered over, but also complemented. Strong, powerful, full bodied. Whiskey flavors are thick and rich in this one. Sweetness to match the spice. Many layers of delicious.
