Clown Shoes Royal Standard Wee Heavy Ale

Clown Shoes  Royal Standard Wee Heavy Ale.

8% ABV, Clown Shoes Beer, Boston, MA.

Mostly clear, amber hued, slim, white head, not long for this world.

In the nose: Malty, slightly sweet, with a nice deployment of fruity associations, citrus, apple, melon. Little touch of hops.

In the mouth: Big malt, big sweet, more fruit, and here comes the booze. Lacks carbonation. Should have fuller body. Doesn't taste like any Wee Heavy I've ever had. Is it an Imperial Scottish Ale, maybe?

This is the last one from the 12 Beers of Christmas pack, and I'm a bit disappointed. I expect Wee Heavies to be a bit darker and richer.

This ain't bad, but it ain't what I wanted.

Our oatmeal stout revisits the classic British style. Roasted barley and flaked oats combine for a smooth, smoky lusciousness. Notes of chocolate and roasted coffee lie beneath a velvety foam head to cap it all off. Cheers!
