Bent Paddle Oatmeal Stout

Bent Paddle Oatmeal Stout.

6.4 % ABV, 25 IBU, Bent Paddle Brewing, Duluth, MN.

My final can from the current (or is it now former?) Adventure Pack. Time to take some notes.

Absolute ebony, complete opacity, slim, but staying, ring of brown foam.

In the nose: Roasty, nutty, bittersweet. Cocoa and coffee. Warm and inviting.

In the mouth: Chocolate and coffee dominate the flavors from the start, bittersweet notes pleasing the palate. Exceptional balance and exceptionally smooth. This feels richer and maltier than the typical oatmeal stout, and I can appreciate that. I would like to enjoy this more often. Tasty little drinker and easy going down the gullet. Make more, please!

Our oatmeal stout revisits the classic British style. Roasted barley and flaked oats combine for a smooth, smoky lusciousness. Notes of chocolate and roasted coffee lie beneath a velvety foam head to cap it all off. Cheers!
