BlackStack DDH Wavy IPA.
7.2 % ABV, BlackStack Brewing, St. Paul, MN.
Thick, impenetrable haze, naturally. Dull yellow. Large and luminous ivory head. .with citrusy hop
In the nose: Beautiful. My hats off to you, BlackStack, this is lovely stuff. Uncommonly fresh hop notes, loads of citrusy flavors, nothing but pure, raw hoppiness.
In the mouth: On the palate, even brighter and shinier, bursting with orange, lemon, grapefruit. Tropical tones start to edge their way in. Hop bitterness is very low, but exists, in some small fashion. Medium bodied, soft mouthfeel, but not as thick and gauze-like as the the kind I hate. Exceptionally pleasant, for a hazy. Smooth, well-balanced, slightly sweet.
Saturated salutations to all you silver surfers out there. Double doses of Mosaic & Sultana (The hop formerly known as Denali, formerly known as Experimental #06277, formerly known as Nugzilla... why didn't we stick with Nugzilla?) on an oat heavy base. Free Max B.
Are they trying to sound like stoner hipsters, or is this a natural voice? More questions...who are they referring to as "silver surfers"? BlackStack fans who drink from silver cans, or Norrin Radd from Zenn La wielding the power cosmic? Why isn't Sultana still Denali? Who the heck is Max B? Also, why should I care? Send me your answers. Don't make me Google.
