Old Nation Boss Tweed Double India Pale Ale. New Orthodox India Pale Ale Series. Keep Cold and Drink Fresh. Haze Is Good. (Uh-oh.)
9.3 % ABV, IBU 68. Brewed and canned by Old Nation Brewing Company, Williamston, MI.
To the eye: All hazed up. Bright golden hue. Large, lush, pure white head.
In the nose: Bold, vibrant citrusy goodness. Lemon, grapefruit and orange, with a splash of pineapple & guava. Mighty nice.
In the mouth: Sunshiney! Big ol' hops, with minimal bitterness. As I've said many, many times, not my favorite way to do a double IPA. If you're gonna have bigger alcohol and higher hops, bring on the bitterness, too. I feel cheated by beers like this. "but, it's so soft and fuzzy" you say. Ah, nix that nonsense.
Weighing in at 9.3%, Boss Tweed is a double New England IPA with an aroma of peach, mango, tangerine. A nice pilsner malt backbone with a touch of Vienna provides balance and a lingering sweetness on the back end.
